Although this year the spring is a bit late, Rome is blossoming. From Sunday 21st May, just when flower start to come to complete efflorescense, the Rome Rose Garden has open its bewitching gates. Laying down on Aventine Hill, overlooking Circus Maximus, the first and largest stadium in ancient Rome, the garden offers you a nice and romantic walk among beautiful and colorful flowers.

The location hasn’t been chosen accidentally, since III century B.C. this place was dedicated for the goddess Flora and ancient Romans used to celebrate her feasts called floralia in Circus Maximus. Since that time, (with only 300 years of break, when it was transformed into an hebrew cemetery), this particular place plays a role of flower garden, which means over 2000 years of history!!
What else make Roseto di Roma so unique? First of all, over 1.100 types of roses, from all over the world! Their broad diversity brings you into magic kingdom of colors and fragrances. A huge collection starts from the rarest and most expensive examples to this usual ones, all of them grown with care and passion so that you can admire their entire beauty.

Location of garden itself is great! Turning your head around you can enjoy the view over the ancient city – Palatino and Circo Massimo, a bell tower of Santa Maria in Cosmedin, dome of Synagogue and a beautiful sculpture on top of famous Vittorianomonument. Moreover western slope of Aventine Hill where the rose garden lays is luckily hidden from big Roman traffic so you can truly smell all of the magnetic scents and breath deeply while relaxing in this area.

If you feel like taking a break from all the everyday rush and feed your soul with picturesque panorama of endless flowers and take a plunge into the sea of aromas, simply take the metro, car or a walk and come to visit Roseto di Roma. Remember that flowers do not blossom all year long, Rose Garden is open from 8am to 7pm, everyday till 16th June. Entrance is completely free.
