Rome has it all, almost all, even if it’s not the original pizza capital in Italy, cos that title is taken already by world famous Pizza Napoletana, but there are still some great places to taste the best of this pie! I have to admit, that it took a long time to find something excellent, as it’s tourist epicentre, many restaurants would take advantage of it , offering pretty disgusting stuff, making it a tourist trap. Rome is more famous for pasta and all type focaccias, but you can still find a variety of styles in Rome ,from paper-thin Roman style, a thick Neapolitan style and also pizza by slice, you will have to take time, and to taste many pizzas to find the right one for you.

Here will be some tips, to avoid to lose the last euro for wasted pizzas, better throw those in Trevi fountain and wish to come back to this marvellous capital , that will never change the way it is, Rome will always remain a beautiful mother of open air museums, that has a real charm and warmness…

Da Remo is a great place in Testaccio, which by the way starts to beat Trastevere, on Piazza Santa Maria Liberatrice, they are open only for dinner, it might be a bit harder to get to, but the trip will be worth it. If you are a fan of excellent boutique Neapolitan-style pizza, which is much more thicker than normal pizza and full of high quality ingredients, LA Gatta Mangiona will be a place for you at Via F. Ozanam, 30-32 or Sforno at Via Statilio Ottato 110. Please try to not save the money on pizza and do not go to overrated places in Trastevere, which will give you the very wrong impression of what real pizza should be like.
