Roman summer is beautiful… sky is super-blue, it’s always sunny and there are so many tastes of ice-cream that everyday you can try a new one. Sometimes though the temperature rises extremely and it might become hard for those who are not used to such weather. How to survive and stay good? Hydrate yourself! Drink a lot of water all day long. Here are some tips how to do it ‘when in Rome’.

There are over 2500 “big noses” spread all over the city of Rome. Have you seen one of them? Sure you did, “er Nasone” (which in Roman dialect means big nose) is a small iron fountain that provides all inhabitants and tourists with free, drinkable water. At the beginning it might seem a bit strange to stop and drink water from those little fountains but the running water is 100 % safe and fresh. If native Romans do this, let’s just trust them and learn from them.

However fountains are supplied with water coming through Acquedotto from outside of Rome, the city itself has 7 mineral water springs. Among most famous are: Egeria, Capannelle or Acqua di Nepi. If you have car, simply take some bottles and come to sprigs and fill them with fresh, healthy water.

The last but no least is tap water. Drinkable all over the city of Rome. Little tip from native Roman? To get the better quality open the tap and let the water flow for some time so it gets colder and you won’t drink the water that stayed in the pipe for some time.

Now that you know how to hydrate yourself in Rome, you’re more than ready to go sightseeing under the Eternal City sun. See you in Rome!
